A friend just rang to wish me well over the hols. He said he'd not been up long, so I said jokingly that I'd have thought he'd be up at the crack of dawn opening his prezzies. He laughed and said ''wrapping them more like''!!

My daughter just texted me, she is at an early midnight mass and wondered what I was up to. I told her I was safe and sound, snuggled up watching Narnia and surfing the net.
Her mum is Polish and they tend to celebrate The Eve more so than Xmas day. I was again invited to be with them but this year chose not to as my health has been crappy and thought better of it.
She already has her gifts from me and I look forward to seeing her on Boxing day …. the same as she has conveyed. I so love her.

I popped over to see my cousin today, he’s 88 and hosting the family get together tomorrow (he’s actually my mum’s first coz). There will be ten of us (I think), so I poked my nose in to see if there was anything I could help with.
He’s looking forward to it, he loves it when the family get together. The women of the family have control of the kitchen and one man who’s a very good cook. I was dumped into a chair and handed a cup of coffee and told to keep out of the way and my hands off the freshly baked kilchals (Jewish biscuits **sp).
I sat there looking at him he just smiled and shrugged.
I said ‘’one more sleep before Xmas,’’
Still smiling he said he would squeeze in a couple more than that as he likes to doze during the day.
He did look tired and worries me. He is the only male patriarch left since the passing of my father earlier in the year. Then what? My generation? Heavens forbid.

Today is the first day of my holiday from work and we are due back on the 3rd Jan. I still woke up as if it was a work day, I deliberated hit the snooze button tree times just to make a point even thou I wasn’t snoozing. I’m not one for laying around in bed.
The ‘office party’ (diner actually) was nice but I kept looking at my watch and wanting to be home although I have no reason why. We did a Secret Santa again this year and I really did score as it was something I wanted/needed, a beautiful towelling bath robe. I had one of the younger girls to buy for and decided to go with a gift token for Body Shop. As if Xmas wasn’t expensive enough.
I have some last minute things to buy for the family and will be doing that soon then I can completely relax.

Happy Chanukah.
I hate the cold weather but the chill is always taken off by all the festivities at this time of year.
My daughter and her blackberry seem inseparable and I think it's actually attached itself to her hand and has become part of her body.
Not only do I get 'pinged' now I also get 'munched'!!

I baked, that’s right, me, bake! I made a chicken and mushroom pie and it was a delight. Fair to say I used the pastry that’s already mixed but I did make the filling and put it in the oven.

So today is the last day of my mini break. I have to use up all my holiday time before the end of the year and since we are officially closed from the 22nd Dec now seemed a good time to take what was left. I also have the 16th earmarked, it’s a Friday and only a half day so I may use it to catch up on last minute Xmas gifts etc.
I have caught up on a load of films and have a very clean home!

So I’m not back to work till Wednesday, I love these little breaks where I can sit around and have ‘me’ time.
I just checked my email box and a few of my messages were recognised as spam and were dealt with appropriately. These are the type of messages that tell you if you don’t send it on to someone, misfortune or even death will ensue. My daughter forwards a lot of the messages to me and has done so since I told her it was alright. When she first started getting them she was (still is) at a very impressionable age and was a little concerned, now she’s getting better.
I can’t help thinking Monty Python … Spam spam spam spam spam…..!
